Why I Love Branding Photography (and Working with Incredible Women Like Dana)

One of the very best things about being a photographer is that no two days are ever the same. Every session brings a new story, a new connection, and the chance to spend time with truly incredible people. It’s something I never take for granted.

Some connections start in the most unexpected ways. Dana and I had only crossed paths briefly in real life, but over time we became each other’s biggest cheerleaders online. You know those people who show up for you, celebrate your wins, and genuinely want to see you succeed? That’s Dana. And I hope she knows the feeling is completely mutual.

So when she reached out to book a personal branding photography session in St. John’s, NL, I was genuinely excited.

Dana needed updated branding photos for casting and auditions, but we also wanted to create a gallery that felt versatile, authentic, and true to who she is. Whether she’s submitting for roles, building her personal brand, or showing up confidently online, these images needed to support all of it.

That’s one of my favourite things about branding sessions here in St. John’s. They are not just about headshots. They are about capturing personality, confidence, and the many layers of who someone is and where they are going next.

Our morning together was easy, relaxed, and full of those little in-between moments that always end up being the best ones. The kind where you forget the camera is even there.
